Memoir Monday ~ Engagements

Photobucket
Kevin and Lisa

Since it's just become offcial that I'll be a mom-in-law in a few short months (more about that later), let's stroll down memory lane a bit considering our own engagements. Write about the day you got engaged. Or write about a romantic evening, trip, or event. A special date, perhaps....or a day that turned out to be very romantic in memory, but you didn't think so at the time.

Got any photos to put with your memoir story? If you are an artist, take a moment to sketch an image. What would a quilt block of your memory look like?

I hope you have a pleasant trip down Remember Lane.

An insistent and nasty infection kept me sluggish all last week, then a trip to an out of town wedding, so I didn't get as much done on my travel memoir or the blog as I planned. Hopefully, I'll post my travel piece by tonight.

Until then, muse upon your romantic memories. Happy writing!

Kevin engaged???? Wow, didn't see that coming. I posted my travel Monday Memoir on my blog today.

Glad you're feeling better. Can you do breakfast one day next week? Bon's waiting to hear from us.

Happy Monday!

Congrats to Kevin and Lisa - looking like a happy couple. Glad you are feeling better - nothing worse than summer "crap". Sun's shining bright and you're not - bummer.

Anyway -I lived with Ray, then moved out vowing to move on, then I "couldn't quit him" as the saying goes. He "completed me". Pick any cliche in the book - yep, that's us. Hey, he laughed at my jokes and would read my crap - he was a keeper. We joke that his Mom had a pursed lip look for years - OMG - he married a Yankee. But, twenty years later (this Sept. 1) she's smiling and so are we.

You just never know. Marriage takes work - that's my words of wisdom to your kiddos.

Very best wishes to the happy couple! Starting a new life together is exciting, nerve-wracking, normal... all good.

Engagement... Phil and I talked about our lives together almost from the first date, as if being married was inevitable. Still, a formal proposal is something every girl wants.

I had been to Jazzercise with a girlfriend, and stopped by Phil's apartment on the way home. He really wanted to talk, and spent about an hour telling me all the reasons why he wanted to marry me. It was beautiful!

I was still kind of, uh, musty from working out, so I went into the bedroom to change and take a bath. He came in, dropped to both knees and asked me to marry him. Wow! I was blown away.

I found out later that HE was blown away too! I don't think he'd planned to ask right then in that way, but that made it so much more fun and spontaneous.

We called my mom and dad to tell them and they were all excited. Phil and my mom got along great (there were only 11 years between them, so she specified that he NOT call her "Mom"). Dad would have liked a "son", but has muddled along well with what he got for the last 19 years.
