Jolt of Color

In my last post, I told you to add a jolt of color to your gray winter days. Here's mine:

I found these at Tuesday Morning. Love them. Bright, cheerful colors that remind me of tulips for some reason. Even the insides are glazed a pretty color. Seeing them in the cabinet makes me happy.

More tips on beating the winter blahs coming in my next posts. In the mean time, the daffodils are doing their darnedest to usher in spring. Like sunbeams on the ground.

I think you may have inspired me yesterday with your winter blahs post. All I can think about now is color. I'm anxiously awaiting the hyacinths. The daffs have been up here for a while. I'm ready for more than just yellow, green, and brown.

Deb, I just love those bowls...they are so joyful! You've inspired me.

Tom, I hope the inspiration to find color doesn't drive you crazy before spring arrives. lol My little pot of white hyacinths are blooming in my white garden. The scent is amazing.

Jenileigh, the bowls came from an outlet store called Tuesday Morning. It is a find and grab it shop because it won't be there again.

DebD--I love that y'all get why I love these bowls. They just flat out make me smile.

I've admired those bowls before myself! They carried them for a while at our grocery store, Wegmans. I wish we had a Tuesday Morning here. I have fond memories of great finds to be had at that store when I was visiting my sister in South Carolina.

Reading some of your posts, I think I see a curious contradiction: you seem to struggle mightily to be a writer, while so many of your posts are about your visual successes and joys -- would it be worthwhile to consider focusing on what seems to come so much more naturally and easily to you - something in the visual arts? It just seems that the visuals evoke your emotions so much more than words, by way of example, i.e., you tend to post photos, not poetry. Just my random impression. I enjoyed the bowls, too. Jane

Oh, Jane, very discerning of you. I am a visual artist...I've spent most of my life behind a camera as a portrait photographer--now retired from that business. (I closed my studio when we moved to Belgium.) The contradiction you see is quite real and quite challenging. And one I've been giving some serious thought. I'll be posting about this in a future post. I just wanted to let you know you were exactly on the mark.

Great idea, Deb. I've been surrounding myself with color for years. It REALLY does help.
I love the color inside those bowls. I have some that are solid color. I love the simple design--no curves or frills. But there's something about the paint job on the outside of yours that bothers me. It's not the stripey colors. That was my first thought. No, they work. I think it's the black stripes. They don't seem to fit in my mind's eye. Hmmmm... I have such a peculiar brain.
