Ta-Da Friday ~ February 5, 2010

Photobucket
I haven't hosted a Ta-Da Friday in a long while, but it's been a productive week or two around here.

First...

Several thousand words on the current novel. Yay! I love it when the words flow.

Then....

Stained Glass days with The Pilot Guy...

My Work in Progress....I made some choices in cutting that are making it difficult to fit the pieces easily. It's taking a lot longer to grind and fit than I was prepared for. I guess it's hard to see the lightly patterned glass between the plant stems. Still more cutting and fitting to do...It's going to hang in the big west window over the bathtub when I'm done. The border will be a smoky purple.

I've worked on a few more pieces. I'll show photos of them next week.

What have you been up to? Anyone publish anything recently? Knit, paint, scrap, or create anything? Post photos on your blog and link the addy in your comments on this post so we can all enjoy.

Stained Glass Saturday

Photobucket

The Pilot Guy and I did another stained glass class on Saturday. In this class, we made boxes.
The most challenging part was deciding exactly what designs and glass to use. The owners of the shop had a big box of glass scraps and pieces to choose from. Plus, they would happily grab a piece off the sale shelves if we couldn't find the color we wanted. It was like being a kid in a toy store.

Designing the box was another challenge, but a happy one. I hadn't gone to the class expecting to get to make our own design. Fun.

One way to beat winter blahs is to do something creative and colorful. Taking the time to learn a new artistic outlet gives your brain and spirit a new jolt, too.

Stained Glass Fun

Today, the Pilot Guy and I dabbled in something new. Stained glass.
We took a class where we learned how to cut, polish, foil, flux, and solder bits of colored glass.
Very fun!

The teacher, Donna from Merry Go Round Stained Glass in Ft. Worth, talked about how much she loves working with glass. She said when she is working with glass, all her cares fade away.
I must say I had the same 'in the zone' feeling during class. All the steps were almost mediative in their process.

Here's what I made:

Here's what The Pilot Guy made. His was much more intricate than mine.
