Not So Wordless Wednesday~Sunflowers

Is it a bad sign when even your flowers won't look at you?


Evidently, the sunflowers we grow love watching the sun come up. These are in the new bed we built on Memorial day weekend on the east side of the back yard . Which means they are facing the eastern horizon instead of the back porch. We have a line of sunflowers on the west side of our back yard along a fence. They always look into the yard. Never thought about these guys facing away from the back porch. Aren't flowers always supposed to face the way you want them too?


Ah, but when you walk around the other side of the bed, the sunflower faces are lovely. The bees and butterflies are enjoying them. The neighbors are getting a pretty show, too.


Sunflowers make me smile.

Ralph Waldo Emerson said the earth laughs in flowers. If so there is a constant chuckle going on in my yard these days. Joyful, joyful!

Wordless Wednesday ~ Tulips

Snow!

Okay, before you northern gals like Rose fall down laughing, please understand...we don't get SNOW. We usually get ice. Snow, fluffy, white, and wet, is a true joy.

Texas is getting a fine taste of late winter today with a snow storm that arrived faster than expected. Instead of arriving after supper, this storm bullied it's way in for lunch causing havoc with streets, schools, and afternoon ballgames.

The flakes are huge and plentiful. I'm having trouble just staying inside because it is so pretty.

Yes, already.


Baseball, a sure sign of spring. That's my baby pitching a fine game while his mama and daddy froze in the bleachers.

Despite the signs of spring, winter is still here. The weatherman predicts cold and possible ice for the weekend. But isn't it nice to know that spring is coming?
